Anthony Martial is willing to snub a move to Barcelona or Newcastle in favour of joining Sevilla on loan, according to reports. The want-away Frenchman, who is desperate for more game time, looks set to quit Old Trafford in January as he looks to embark on a new challenge after six years at United.

Martial’s playing time has significantly decreased following the signings of Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

The 26-year-old was a former favourite of previous manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but now he finds himself way down the pecking order at the club.

He had the chance to move back to former club Lyon on loan in the final days of the transfer window but Martial decided to stay.

That’s because he had the desire to fight for his place and there was optimism he would soon work his way back into the side.

It simply hasn’t happened though and Martial’s agent has since confirmed to Sky Sports News that a January move is now the priority.

Barcelona, Newcastle and Juventus are among the clubs to have expressed an interest, according to reports.

Yet Sky Sports say Martial’s preferred destination would be La Liga outfit Sevilla.

The Andalusian club are thought to be keen on a loan deal that would help Martial rebuild some much-needed confidence.

The situation could then be reassessed in the summer depending on who the manager is at Manchester United.

As things stand, interim boss Rangnick has made it clear that Martial is yet to make him aware of his plans to leave in January.

“The player hasn’t spoken with me or us about it,” Rangnick said before the postponed Premier League clash against Brentford.

“If he really has the wish to go to another club, it should be the player who informs either the board or myself.

“To be honest, what his agent says via the media is not of that much interest to me.”

Martial’s best goalscoring season came back in 2019/20 when he netted 23 in all competitions.

However, he was unable to build on that and has since been starved of confidence.

It’s understood United would prefer to sell the Frenchman as opposed to a loan deal.

Jesse Lingard is also in the shop window as he approaches the final six months of his contract.
