Man Utd wonderkid Hannibal Mejbri unveiled by Tunisia in extravagant ceremony
Manchester Unitedstarlet Hannibal Mejbri enjoyed a spectacular unveiling after receiving his first international call-up for Tunisia in a ceremony that looked like something straight out of the X-Factor.
The 18-year-old was capped by France at youth level but has chosen to switch his allegiance to Tunisia and could make his debut against the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 5.
Mejbri qualifies for the African nation through his father Lofti, who is Tunisian and played in his homeland.
His decision to declare for Tunisia is seen as a coup by country's FA and they wanted to show off their new star man with a spectacular unveiling ceremony.
A video shared on Twitter showed a packed indoor arena full of journalists and dignitaries awaiting Mejbri’s announcement while dramatic music played and lights flashed to build anticipation.
Following almost a full minute of build-up, the United youngster walked out onto the stage as strobe lighting flickered and cannons shot flames up into the air.
Red Devils under-23 boss Neil Wood has been impressed with Mejbri’s development this season which has seen him make his first-team debut against Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season.
Speaking the day before the match at Molineux, Wood said: “I think he's been on an incredible journey really.
“When he first came up, he was full of energy and was running everywhere, sometimes to the detriment of the team.
“His discipline has improved greatly, on and off the ball, and his defensive responsibility. He's really starting to understand that a little bit more.
“It was difficult at the start as the physicality was a step up for him but he's a tough kid. I think he can take the knocks and can look after himself.

“I think, towards the end of the year, once we got into the Blackburn and Liverpool games, we started to see him perform and take off.
Mejbri isn’t the only Premier League wonderkid to receive a call-up for Tunisia either, with 19-year-old Arsenal prospect Omar Rekik also joining the squad.
