Man Utd "will not hesitate" to sign £70m Varane amid Real Madrid uncertainty
Manchester United could make a move for the £70m-rated Raphael Varane according to reports in Spain.
There is a growing sense of uncertainty about the defender's Real Madrid future and the Premier League outfit are primed to move should he seek pastures new.
Varane's contract at the Bernabeu runs out in 2022.
Madrid have no intention of selling him, but there are open to the possibility if he is ‘thinking more about leaving than staying’, reports Mundo Deportivo.
United have previously been linked with the Frenchman as far back as 2011, before he'd even moved to Los Blancos.
The Red Devils also made moves to sign the World Cup winner in 2019.
Catalan newspaper Sport understands that Liverpool and PSG are also keen on the 27-year-old.
United are understood to be in the market for a new centre-half this summer.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to strengthen several areas of his squad and the heart of defence is one.
The Norwegian invested heavily in Harry Maguire in 2019 and is now seeking a long-term partner for the Englishman.
He has Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly currently at his disposal at Old Trafford.
The Swede has been more regularly used, but is yet to fully convince alongside Maguire meaning reinforcements will be considered.
Former United man Gary Neville believes Lindelof and the former Leicester man are "each other's biggest problem"
"They’re not going to turf Maguire out, so you’ve got find a partner for him," he said previously on Sky Sports.
“That’s got to be somebody of the profile of Bailly. Quick, good in the air, strong, can cover Maguire and get them up the pitch.
"The goalkeeping situation is going to need attending to quite soon too.
“Lindelof struggles in the air. Maguire struggles when the ball is played in behind. They’re each other’s own biggest problem.”
