Manchester United have received a fresh boost in their attempts to sign long-term target Jadon Sancho. United wanted to sign Sancho last summer but baulked at Borussia Dortmund’s £108million asking price. The England international remains on the club’s radar, despite their strong interest in his Dortmund team-mate Erling Haaland.
Haaland’s prolific first full season in the Bundesliga has led to interest from a host of top clubs across Europe.
Dortmund insist the Norwegian is not for sale, with his release clause of around £65million not becoming active until the end of next season.
And it appears United would find it easier to sign Sancho instead.
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc claims the club has an agreement with Sancho since last year that he could leave the club on a certain condition.

However, Zorc says Haaland does not have a similar agreement.
“We already had a gentlemen’s agreement with Jadon last year that he can switch under certain conditions,” Zorc told ARD.
“He’s been with us for a couple of years. However, this agreement does not exist with Erling.”
Asked why Sancho’s move to United did not happen last summer, Zorc said: “In the end, the requirements were not met.”

Sancho’s 17 goals and 16 assists in the Bundesliga last season attracted United’s interest.
The England international has had a quieter campaign this time around, scoring six goals and contributing nine assists.
He missed over six weeks of action between March and April due to a torn muscle bundle.
Meanwhile, speaking on Saturday, Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola insists there is still a chance the striker could leave Dortmund this summer despite the club’s public stance.
“What we know as of today is that Dortmund spoke extremely solemnly to us and said: ‘We are not selling him’. That’s the situation, definitely,” Raiola told AS.
“That’s what they’ve said. Now let’s see if that desire is still there through to the 1st of September.
“Today, the official stance of Dortmund is this. But I’ve got another view, I think that if a good opportunity comes up and everyone would be happy, we’ll put it on the table.
“Haaland is interested in two things: Scoring goals, because he’s a little bit like Cristiano [Ronaldo] or Zlatan [Ibrahimovic]… it’s his obsession, in a positive way. And winning titles.
“No doubt he’ll pick somewhere where he feels those two things go together best for him.”
