Man Utd ‘unhappy’ with Wrexham boss after unleashing anger on sorry Bishop
Wrexham’s ‘USA invasion’ continues to win fans after success in San Dieg0
Manchester United are said to be unhappy with Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson after he called out their goalkeeper Nathan Bishop following a challenge that left Paul Mullin with a punctured lung during their 3-1 win over the Red Devils. The Welsh side’s talisman was caught by Bishop in the 12th minute and needed to be given oxygen before being substituted, in an incident that enraged the Wrexham boss.
Parkinson insisted that Bishop would be wise to “steer clear” of Wrexham following the challenge, despite apologising on social media. He was deeply unhappy as Bishop received just a yellow card on his first involvement with the first team, though the 23-year-old was one of the elders on the pitch for United.
“It’s a clumsy challenge from the goalkeeper, I’m disappointed with that,” Parkinson said. “It should have been a straight red. If it’s not denying a goalscoring opportunity, it’s still a dangerous challenge.
“So if you add the two scenarios together he should have been off the pitch. It’s a dangerous challenge and obviously, Paul Mullin is our talisman. I’ve only just got the news in the second half (that he has punctured his lung). One of the physios went with him. We’ll find out later.

“I’m fuming about it, I’ve got to be honest with you. It was a clumsy, reckless, challenge in a pre-season game and I’m not happy with it at all. I haven’t seen the goalie and he’s probably best steering clear of us for the time being because we’re not very happy.”
The Telegraph have claimed that United are unhappy with Parkinson’s comments as they feel they’re the type of remarks that further fuels a tough situation and drives online abuse towards Bishop. The Red Devils made it known that their goalkeeper has already apologised over an accidental incident where there was no malice.

Bishop was booed by those in the stadium on every touch before he was replaced at half-time by Radek Vitek, who was also the subject of jeers from the crowd as they appeared unaware that a different goalkeeper had entered the fray.
The United man was given Mullin’s phone number by Ben Foster although the two players do share the same agency, while the stopper swiftly took to social media to apologise to Mullin. He wrote on X: “Just wanted to share my sincerest apologies to @PMullin7 A complete misjudgement and a genuine accident with 0 malicious intent at all! Wishing you the speediest recovery and hope to see you back scoring goals as soon as possible!”
Mullin is yet to respond publicly to Bishop but has provided an update from hospital through Instagram, as he wrote: “Thank you for all your messages! All good here!” in positive news for all concerned.
