Man Utd transfer news LIVE – Fourth signing close, target rejects Ten Hag

Manchester United are starting to put their foot down in the transfer market with around six weeks of the window remaining. Erik ten Hag has made three signings already and is keen to increase that number, as well as moving a host of players out of Old Trafford.

Signing a goalkeeper was a priority for Ten Hag and he completed that piece of the puzzle on Thursday. Andre Onana has joined from Inter Milan for an initial fee of just under £44million.

The ex-Ajax stopper joins Mason Mount and Jonny Evans as the two signings the Red Devils have made so far. Evans is only on a short-term deal at the moment but has the chance to impress in pre-season.

A fourth signing could soon be on the cards, with Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat and Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund both targeted. However, Ten Hag has not had it all his own way and we will bring news of a player who has rejected the chance to join United.

Express Sport will keep you up to date with the latest gossip, rumours and done deals at United on Friday, July 21 so be sure to follow our live blog below.

£86.5m demand

Atalanta are set to demand up to £86.5m for striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The club’s manager Gian Piero Gasperini hopes the Serie A side hold out for a mega fee for the United target.

He told Sky Italy: “I don’t know whether he’ll stay or leave — but I hope the club will value Hojlund around €80, 90 or 100million (£86.5m) fee.

“Rasmus is one of the best — if not the best — emerging talent in Europe as a striker.”

Target rejects Ten Hag

Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has reportedly rejected a move to Old Trafford.

David de Gea’s departure and speculation over the futures of Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton has seen Ten Hag go in the search for goalkeepers.

United were claimed to be prepared to pay the release clause of just £5.2m for Turkey international Bayindir.

However, Posta claims that the 25-year-old has turned down the chance to move to England.

He did not want to play second fiddle to Andre Onana and now could be set to join the Cameroonian’s former club Ajax.

Fourth signing close

United are edging closer to making their fourth signing.

Reports claimed on Thursday that the Red Devils are stepping up their pursuit of Fiorentina star Sofyan Amrabat.

Now it appears the Serie A side are close to signing a replacement.

Fabrizio Romano says Fiorentina are set to sign former Liverpool flop Arthur Melo on loan from Juventus.

Amrabat is valued at £26m and this development could see United step up their chase further.
