Manchester United transfer news is coming thick and fast with the opening of the January window edging closer. Cody Gakpo won’t be moving to Old Trafford, but there’s a chance Joao Felix might. And Chelsea are supposedly facing a fight when it comes to landing Benoit Badiashile, the Monaco star who has just 18 months left on his contract.
Manchester United spent big in the summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony and Martin Dubravka as they looked to move on from the shambles of last season.
But the Red Devils could also be active in January as they look to bolster their squad.
United have lost Cristiano Ronaldo and, up until recently, Gakpo appeared set to join. That won’t be happening now, however, with the forward heading to Liverpool instead.
And though they’re well-stocked at centre-back, they’re being linked with Badiashile at a time where Chelsea seem to be frontrunners in the race to land the Monaco star.
Stay with us throughout the day as we bring you the latest updates from Old Trafford.
Casemiro praised
United cruised to victory over Nottingham Forest last night, with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Fred all on target.
Yet it’s Casemiro who is winning plaudits in the aftermath of the contest, with Patrice Evra hailing his impact since his summer move from Real Madrid.
“Casemiro is the heart of this team,” he said.
“It took long for him to start, I remember at the beginning of the season every fan didn’t understand why Casemiro wasn’t starting but now you can see.
“He is a player who has won five Champions League’s so I am not surprised about this performance.”
Chelsea hijack eyed
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, United have made contact as they look to beat Chelsea to the signing of Badiashile.
The Monaco star is, however, still expected to move to Stamford Bridge this winter.
United, along with Barcelona, have got in touch with the Ligue 1 giants as they look to bolster their centre-back options.
Both teams are behind Chelsea in the race to land the player at the current moment in time, however.

Glazers blocked Gakpo deal
According to The Sun, Ten Hag wanted United to raid PSV Eindhoven for Gakpo this winter.
However, the Glazers blocked a deal from happening with the Americans reluctant to sanction any permanent deals at a time when the club is on the market.
United’s loss is Liverpool’s gain, with Gakpo heading to Liverpool instead.
Who the Red Devils now sign remains to be seen, with Joao Felix one name in the frame.
