Man Utd transfer news: Lingard to leave, Austrian wonderkid targeted, James concern
Man Utd: Solskjaer gives transfer update ahead of Deadline Day
Manchester United are flying high in the Premier League at the moment, and are currently just one point behind Manchester City. The Red Devils have been quiet this month, despite seeing Amad Diallo arrive from Atalanta. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward are set to focus on the summer window now and are unlikely to make any more signings in the current window.
Manchester United have had a fairly quiet January transfer window, and are unlikely to make any significant signings before the window ends.
They’re set to use the rest of the window to focus on outgoing deals and start looking ahead to the summer.
It’s likely they’ll go for either Dayot Upamecano or Jadon Sancho at the end of the season, but neither will be signed in the current window.
Instead, players could depart on loan, and it isn’t completely out of the question that they could continue their policy of signing young players.
Jesse Lingard to depart imminently
Jesse Lingard could be in the West Ham squad to face Liverpool on Sunday, talkSPORT claims.
The midfielder is closing in on a loan move to the London Stadium, and could complete the transfer in the next 24 hours.
West Ham are set to confirm a deal to sign Said Benrahma on a permanent deal from Brentford, which will free them up to loan Lingard.
The midfielder is out-of-favour at Old Trafford, and is set to get his chance under David Moyes.
Move for ‘next Michael Ballack’ touted
United are reportedly looking at a move for a midfielder dubbed “the next Michael Ballack”.
Hoffenheim star Christoph Baumgartner, 21, has emerged as a top-quality midfielder after breaking into the first-team.
He is under contract until 2023, meaning Hoffenheim will be in no rush to sell him.
The Sun claims United are leading the way for his signature, but there are a number of other clubs interested.
He was given his first-team debut by Julian Nagelsmann aged just 19, and has become one of the finest talents to come out of Austria.
Daniel James concern
Daniel James, who has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford on loan in order to get some minutes, is frustrated at his lack of playing time.
His international manager Ryan Giggs told Stadium Astro that the young winger knows he’ll have to take his chance whenever it comes, but is getting frustrated at his lack of minutes.
“We are in unknown territory. Where you don’t have a lot of time. A lot of games squeezed into a short space of time,” he said. “So, I think Ole would take the safe option and keep as many quality players in the club as he can.
“Yes, it would be frustrating. I know that Dan is frustrated. Just like any other player who isn’t getting regular football.
“But when you are at a big club like United when you get the chance take it.
