Man Utd to sell forgotten star Pereira for £12m after 11 years at the club
Manchester United have reportedly agreed to sell forgotten star Andreas Pereira to Flamengo after 11 years at the club.
Pereira, 26, joined the Man Utd academy in 2011 and went on to record 75 appearances for the first team but has not featured since a 3-0 away win at Brighton in June 2020.
The midfielder was subject to a €1m (£845,000) loan bid from the Sao Paulo-based side in August and then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to ship him out for the season after failing to make his mark at Old Trafford.
Pereira has become an instrumental figure in Paulo Sousa's team and Flamengo are eager to turn his loan switch into a permanent transfer.
According to well-respected journalist Fred Caldeira, the Red Devils have accepted a £12m bid, with bonuses included for 75 per cent of Pereira's rights.
The Brazilian has enjoyed a stellar start to life back in his homeland, making 24 appearances already this campaign as well as bagging five goals.
Though his vital error in November’s Copa Libertadores final cost Flamengo the trophy against Brazilian rivals Palmeiras.
In extra time, Pereira’s unfortunate stumble allowed Deyverson to nick possession before cooling slotting the match-winning goal past Diego Alves.

But it seems his costly mistake has not deterred Sousa from forcing through a permanent deal.
And despite the English transfer window slamming shut last Monday, the Brazilian window does not close until April 12, meaning United do not have to wait until the summer to finalise the transfer.
The £12m switch will give Ralf Rangnick some much-needed funds ahead of a busy summer of wheeling and dealing, especially in midfield.
Contract rebel Paul Pogba is still yet to pen a new deal, despite several efforts from the Man Utd hierarchy to agree terms with the Frenchman.
Pogba was offered a bumper £400k-a-week deal back in January but the 2018 World Cup winner once again snubbed United's proposal.
Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata are also anticipated to leave Old Trafford when their contracts expire in June and Nemanja Matic's future looks far from certain.
That leaves just Scott McTominay, Fred and Everton outcast Donny van de Beek fighting for the two pivot roles in United's 4-2-3-1 formation.
