Man Utd tells fans they can swap Greenwood shirts for free following rape probe
Manchester United fans will be able to trade in their Mason Greenwood shirts for free.
United fans will be able to swap the shirt for one with another player's name, the club has confirmed to Daily Star Sport.
Greenwood, 20, was arrested on Sunday night on suspicion of rape and assault.
He was then further arrested on Tuesday for threats to kill and sexual assault.
The 20-year-old has now been released on bail pending an investigation.
A statement from the GMP today read: "A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation."
This comes after Man United removed Greenwood's shirt from their online store.
The option for 'Greenwood 11' has been removed from the personalisation option.
And a search of his name yields the result: "Sorry, your search for Mason Greenwood did not match any products."
United released a statement: "Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind."
United added: "As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice."
Greenwood was also removed from EA Sports' flagship title FIFA 22 on Tuesday.
An update to the game saw Greenwood removed from the United squad, and he has been suspended from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team packs.
