Manchester United will go into their clash against AC Milan needing to score. The Red Devils will need to find the net if they’re to go through after the first leg ended 1-1 at Old Trafford. So Express Sport will bring you the latest team news, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer expected to make three changes.

Goalkeeper: Henderson

United star Henderson faced criticism after he let Simon Kjaer’s header sail over his head against Milan in the first leg.

But he bounced back by keeping a clean sheet against West Ham on Sunday.

David De Gea has recently travelled back from Spain but United are primed to stick with Henderson for the match at the San Siro instead.

He knows he has to do better than he managed first time around.

But, if Henderson keeps Milan at bay, he’ll move one step closer to seizing the No 1 shirt on a permanent basis.

Defenders: Wan-Bissaka, Bailly, Maguire, Shaw

United rested Eric Bailly for the 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.

And that suggests they’re saving the injury-prone Ivory Coast international for Milan, where he should start against Milan.

At right-back, it’s going to be Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

After all, Solskjaer is so short on options in that position the defender is likely to start every game between now and the end of the campaign.

At left-back should be Luke Shaw, who has come on leaps and bounds this term.

Midfield: Fred, McTominay, Fernandes

If United don’t pick Bruno Fernandes, it’ll be the biggest surprise of their season.

And, given they were thumped 6-1 by Tottenham at Old Trafford earlier in the campaign, that would be quite something.

United will require grit in the middle of the park.

So that means Fred is primed to get the nod, with the Brazil international becoming a crucial asset under Solskjaer throughout the Norweigan’s spell in charge.

And then there’s Scott McTominay, who has silenced his critics with some storming performances in the middle of the park.

Forwards: Rashford, Greenwood, Pogba

United’s front three could be set for some tinkering with Edinson Cavani unavailable due to injury.

Daniel James and Mason Greenwood have both done well of late and it is the latter who should start in the absence of Cavani against Milan.

Marcus Rashford may be shunted to the right wing, with the England international impressing there in the Champions League – most notably in the 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

And Paul Pogba is set to be unleashed on the left wing now he’s fully fit again.

Solskjaer speaks out

Solskjaer has spoken out ahead of the fixture against Milan, saying: “I felt a big rebuild had to be made. The league is always the bread and butter and that’s when you see how capable you are.

“The cups are sometimes an ego thing for managers and clubs. It’s not like a trophy will say ‘we are back’, no.

“It’s gradual progression at the top of the league. Sometimes the cup competitions can hide your progress a bit.

“Every manager wants to win every game and we want to fight on every front. Then it comes to a point in every season when it’s: ‘okay we cant achieve this’ and you sometimes might sacrifice the league position to get a cup run at the end.

“I haven’t been here and felt we can down-prioritise any game yet. The players need to learn to cope with all the pressures ant the expectations You end up with trophies if you’re consistent enough anyway.”
