Man Utd target Rice ‘unhappy’, face Real Madrid ploy and Fernandes update
Manchester United appear to not be finished in the summer transfers yet, despite spending £100m-plus on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
They have been linked with a move for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, competing with Chelsea for his signature.
The Englishman is valued at £100m, though – and the midfielder’s feelings are not good for the Hammers.
But United have to be aware of the future of their one in Paul Pogba, who it seems will leave next summer.
Real Madrid appear to be the favourites for his signature – and their recent Premier League business could put a seal on the deal.
These two stories, along with Bruno Fernandes’ contract situation, are summed up in Daily Star Sport’s Manchester United transfer round-up…
Rice ‘unhappy’ in London
United have continued to express an interest in West Ham’s captain, who has three years left on his current deal at the London Stadium.
But David Moyes will make his former club work for the signature, though, putting an £100m release clause in Rice’s contract.
And The Telegraph have reported that this price has put United – as well as transfer rivals Chelsea – off, which has left the midfielder ‘unhappy’ at cutting off a chance of a new challenge.

Pogba plan
The club’s No.6 appears to be getting closer to a 2022 exit, with the Frenchman yet to agree a new deal at Old Trafford.
With Daily Star Sport reporting that Madrid are leading the way, ABC have suggested that they have already put pieces in place to secure his signature.
The Spanish side allowed Martin Odegaard to join Arsenal for £30m to free up their wage bill, ‘counting on’ signing Pogba as a ‘quiet replacement’ for Luka Modric.
Fernandes contract update
United’s top-scorer from last season Fernandes has wasted no time getting comfortable on the pitch again, scoring a hat-trick in the opening in against Leeds.
There has been a cloud over him, though, as the Portuguese star’s new contract is still yet to be agreed.
But transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says there has been progress, with ‘talks on’ and the 26-year-old is ‘happy to stay’.
