Man Utd target Rasmus Hojlund ‘agrees personal terms’ with PSG
Ten Hag laments Man Utd finishing in Real Madrid defeat
Atalanta striker and Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund has reportedly reached an agreement on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, who are thought to be keen on hijacking the Red Devils’ move for his signature this summer. United are in the market for a new first-choice striker and have taken a liking to Hojlund, with the 20-year-old widely considered to be among Europe’s finest young marksmen after excelling in Serie A last season.
Hojlund scored 10 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions for Atalanta as they secured a fifth-placed finish in Italy’s top tier, which was enough to pique United’s interest in their efforts to sign at least one extra attacker. They are said to have already settled on personal terms with the player but recently saw their first bid of around £31million rejected by Atalanta, according to Corriere dello Sport.
It seems as though United will need to act quickly in order to avoid losing out to PSG, who appear to be making plenty of progress in their own attempts to sign Hojlund for themselves. The French giants have also agreed personal terms with the player, according to RMC Sport, while an offer in the region of £42.8m is thought to have been submitted at club level.
However, it is claimed that United have followed up their previous bid with a new one, which is said to be worth upwards of £51m including bonuses. The latest developments will still be a cause of concern for Erik ten Hag, though, given that it would not be too difficult for PSG to use their well-documented spending power to improve their opening proposal.

Hojlund is said to have been identified as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is believed to have played his final game for the Ligue 1 champions amid the ongoing uncertainty over his future at the Parc des Princes. He recently turned down the opportunity to join Saudi outfit Al-Hilal on a jaw-dropping salary of £11m per week, while PSG are convinced that he has agreed to sign for Real Madrid on a free transfer next summer.
United, meanwhile, could see their hands tied if PSG decide to trump their bid for Hojlund, with their remaining summer business set to depend on how much funding can be raised through player sales. Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay are reported to be among those who could leave Old Trafford this summer, while Eric Bailly and Dean Henderson also fall into that category and could be sold for reduced fees in advance of the new campaign.
Hojlund has already hinted that he would be willing to join United after revealing back in January that he is a lifelong supporter of the club, which suggests that a move to Manchester before the start of next season would be his preferred outcome.

“Now that you ask, I will not hide the fact that I am a huge Manchester United fan,” said Hojlund. “So personally, it [joining United] would be one of the biggest things for me, but of course that doesn’t mean that I would turn down other big clubs if the offers come at some point.”
However, former Denmark youth international Jonas Hebo Goldmann recently warned United that Hojlund could decide to shelve his dream in order to join another Italian club, who would be in a better position to guarantee him regular first-team minutes at this stage of his career.
“There is no doubt that he is [on the radar] of the best clubs in the world, the most likely thing is that he will be sold this summer,” Goldmann told Danish channel TV2. “But I think the right thing for Hojlund would be to choose another Italian club that is just one level above Atalanta, possibly Inter, Juventus, Napoli or AC Milan. It will still be a step up and, here, he will also avoid ending up as second choice in most places.”
