Manchester United have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho after Borussia Dortmund reportedly slashed their asking price for the winger. Sancho has starred in the Bundesliga since joining Dortmund from Manchester City in 2017.
The Red Devils attempted to sign the Englishman last summer, seeing him as the solution to their troubles out wide.
But executive vice chairman Ed Woodward refused to meet Dortmund’s £100million asking price, with the German side refusing to enter into talks.
The breakdown of those talks possibly led to Sancho’s slow start to this season, but he has since recovered his form.
Playing alongside star striker Erling Haaland, the winger has scored 12 goals and notched 18 assists, though has had his season interrupted by a muscle injury.

United are expected to make a return for Sancho this summer, with Dortmund set to cash in on one of their star assets.
Michael Zorc, Dortmund’s sporting director, revealed over the weekend that Sancho has a “gentlemen’s agreement” to depart Signal Iduna Park if certain conditions are met.
One of those conditions is for a potential buyer to meet Dortmund’s valuation of the winger, which has been revised ahead of the summer transfer window.
SPORT report that the price tag for Sancho will be in the region of £74m-£78m once the window opens, a reduction of more than £20m.

The German news organisation claim that the reason for that reduction is so that a summer sale is made more likely.
It is a major boost to United’s hopes of finally landing Sancho, who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has named as one of his top targets.
With the coronavirus pandemic hitting club finances hard, last summer’s valuation was seen as too high by Woodward.
But the new asking price is much closer to what United will consider spending, making a move to Old Trafford a likely one for Sancho.
Last year’s talks between United and Dortmund broke down after the Red Devils missed a deadline set by the German club to begin talks.
Dortmund subsequently refused to start discussions over a move and Sancho stayed in the Bundesliga.
That is a tactic that Dortmund are expected to use again this summer, with SPORT reporting that the German side want to complete a deal before they fly out for a training camp at the end of July.
Sancho would be a clear upgrade on United’s current options on the wing, with Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial failing to hold down a starting spot in the position.
