Man Utd takeover – Sheikh Jassim can target four aces if he abandons Neymar move
Erik ten Hag's Man Utd summer to-do list
Manchester United have been tipped to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain if Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani completes a takeover this summer. The Qatari launched a bid of £5.5billion to buy the northwest giants last week and is said to be keen to land Neymar as his first signature signing should his offer for the club be accepted. But there are doubts over whether the Brazil international can succeed in the Premier League. And Express Sport looks at four transfers Sheikh Jassim can seal if he abandons a move for Neymar, who would cost in the region of £75million.
Harry Kane
United are in desperate need of an out-an-out striker who can bag them goals next season. And Harry Kane fits the bill perfectly. The 29-year-old is a proven goalscorer in England and is second only to Alan Shearer in the all-time Premier League scoring charts.
Kane has just one more year remaining on his Tottenham contract and could finally be on the move this summer after being denied a transfer to Manchester City two years ago. And the ace could prove to be a key part of the Red Devils jigsaw as the club go in search of their first Premier League title in more than a decade though he would likely cost more than the £75m wanted for Neymar.
Victor Osimhen
If Sheikh Jassim wants to pursue a younger front man, he could set his sights on Victor Osimhen. The 24-year-old bagged 23 goals in 30 Serie A games this campaign as he helped Napoli win their first title since 1990. Osimhen, who joined Napoli from Lille three years ago, is on the radar of a string of clubs after impressing in the Champions League throughout the current campaign. And if United can get their hands on the ace, he could well offer them a long-term solution to their forward woes. Like Kane though, he’d cost a lot more than Neymar.

Mason Mount
United boss Erik ten Hag has reportedly sanctioned a move to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount ahead of next season. The playmaker is another man who is out of contract next summer – and he has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge.
Mount, who has won the Champions League and Club World Cup with Chelsea, has proven his worth at club and international level in recent years and could be the attacking force United need to kick on next time around. United are said to be ready to bid £55m for Mount and could end up spending all of the money they’d have for the Neymar deal on the England star if they can negotiate Chelsea’s £85m demands down.

Alexis Mac Allister
If Sheikh Jassim wants to sign a player who has succeeded on the international stage, then he may be keen to prise Alexis Mac Allister away from Brighton. The 24-year-old, who moved to the Premier League from Boca Juniors in January 2020, helped Argentina win the World Cup last year after starting six of their seven matches on route to landing the trophy.
The attacking midfielder has also excelled in the Premier League and his fine form this season has coincided with Brighton climbing to sixth in the top-flight table. He could be purchased for a fee in the region of Neymar’s and United may be better off spending that money on him over the Brazilian.
