Man Utd takeover LIVE – ‘Frustration’ as Glazers ruin transfer plan
Manchester United V Everton: Pictures
The takeover picture looms in the background as Manchester United continue preparations for Thursday’s Europa League clash with familiar foes Sevilla. And the latest feeling coming out of the Glazers’ sale process is a sense of frustration as it continues to stall.
With the summer transfer window rapidly approaching, fears from potential new owners that they won’t arrive at Old Trafford in time are rife. The takeover picture has fallen silent in recent weeks after parties who submitted second revised bids waited for a Raine group response within seven days that never came.
However, movement is expected this week as the Glazers assess all options, including minority investment, that would allow them to remain in control. Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are the frontrunners for a full-scale takeover in M16.
Erik ten Hag’s focus will be on Thursday’s match as United look to put one foot into the Europa League semi-finals. Sevilla, a side the Red Devils have never beaten, are the fourth Spanish outfit they have faced in this season’s competition – after Real Sociedad, Barcelona and Real Betis.

Takeover could cost £8bn
Manchester United suitors may end up paying around £8bn to buy the club from the Glazers.
According to the Mail, the American family are seeking at least £6bn to relinquish control.
However, a further £1bn to £2bn will be required to fund the redevelopment of the Carrington training ground and Old Trafford.
With that in mind, it comes as no surprise that the process is dragging on. It’s a lot of money…
Ten Had told to ‘shut up’
Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira has told Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag to ‘shut up’ about fixture congestion.
In a bizarre rant, Ferreira claimed that Ten Hag didn’t know the meaning of an overcrowded schedule.
He told reporters: “Football here has some fantastic qualities, but there are others that are not human.
“To have nine games in a month… The Manchester United coach complains because Rashford got hurt, and that is a consequence of the number of games he has.
“I’d like to ask him, ‘Look, in these two months, I’ve got nine games each month. Shut up, man, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
“We have to change this.”
Bidders ‘frustrated and annoyed’
Manchester United bidders have reportedly been left ‘frustrated’ and ‘annoyed’ over the lack of takeover progress in recent weeks.
According to the Mail, suitors expected to hear back from Raine within seven days of their delayed revised second bids.
However, communication didn’t come, which has caused frustration and annoyance.
There are growing concerns that a sale won’t be completed before the summer transfer window.
It could tarnish Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s plans to heavily back Erik ten Hag this summer.
