Man Utd ‘support’ Mason Greenwood choosing to train 10 days before pre-season
Mason Greenwood is said to have the backing of Manchester United after the forward made an early return to training following his suspension.
The 21-year-old has been rarely seen since he was arrested in January 2022 under suspicion of rape, assault, and controlling and coercive behaviour. Greenwood was due to stand trial in November before all charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February this year.
United, who suspended Greenwood in the wake of the allegations, are yet to make a decision over his future, with a club inquiry still ongoing.
But manager Erik ten Hag is reportedly ready to welcome him back into the squad. And before the resumption of full training on July 3, Greenwood has been spotted training alone with a personal coach on an £85-an-hour pitch at a sports centre.

Pictures published by The Sun show him dressed in a black t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms. He appeared to have lost some muscle mass compared to when he was playing and training regularly with the rest of the squad.
Greenwood has also grown out his hair, which appeared wild and unruly compared to his previous short trim. He was also fitted with a 'PLAYR' fitness monitor vest to track his levels throughout the session.
United are supportive of Greenwood’s current training arrangement in order to keep himself physically and mentally healthy, report The Telegraph, who say Greenwood’s future is not linked to the club’s drawn-out takeover saga.

Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe remain in the running to buy the club, but the lack of progress over a sale or partial sale continues to frustrate fans.
While there is nothing to stop Greenwood from resuming his career, his return would lead to a backlash, with members of United’s women’s team said to be against his return to the club.
