Man Utd stars turned on David Moyes quickly and joked ‘Bebe’s won more than you’

Patrice Evra has revealed Manchester United stars were quick to turn on David Moyes and began making nasty jokes about his lack of success as a manager.

Moyes was in charge of United for less than a season after his six-year contract was ended just 10 months in, the third-shortest managerial stint in the club's history.

The heir to Sir Alex Ferguson's throne has been on the receiving end of a lot of stick for his failure at the helm of the Red Devils.

But in Evra's new book he details the lack of support the current West Ham boss had from the United players which suggests he was fighting a losing battle.

Via The Times, he said: "I remember one time when the left back Alex Büttner had a massive plate of chips in the hotel before a game, which the manager objected to and banned.

"Chips aren’t the best food for a professional athlete so I can understand that, and David had a point, but the story appeared in a newspaper two days later.

"David was slaughtered in the media for making changes like that and he reacted by letting players eat chips again.

"The players knew they were in charge, and there was some sort of incident every day, always an unhappy player.

"Players became cruel and joked that Bebé had won more medals than Moyes.

“'Guys, we have to take some responsibility,' I said in training after weeks of this negativity. 'We have to give the guy a chance.'

“'How can you kiss his arse when he tried to sign someone in your position?' one came back at me. 'He’s tried to sign every f***ing left back in the world.’"

Moyes won the only trophy of his career while at United which was the 2013 Community Shield.

United flop Bebe, meanwhile, picked up a Premier League winners medal in the 2010/11 season after making two appearances.

And he was also part of the Red Devils' youth squad which won the U21 Premier League in the 2012/13 season.

Evra was a key part of Moyes' United side and left for Juventus not long after the Scottish manager was sacked.
