Man Utd star proves Ed Woodward was right to make Jadon Sancho transfer call
Man Utd v Liverpool: FA Cup fourth-round preview
Manchester United refused to meet Borussia Dortmund’s hefty asking price for Jadon Sancho last summer as Ed Woodward played hardball over the England winger. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may well have already found his best option at right-wing after his showing in the FA Cup win over Liverpool.
Manchester United star Mason Greenwood may well have proved that transfer chief Ed Woodward was right to hold off on signing Jadon Sancho last summer.
The Red Devils were strongly linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund winger.
But much to the frustration of fans, United refused to meet Dortmund’s hefty asking price for Sancho.
That left teenage forward Greenwood as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first choice on the right-wing.

And the 19-year-old excelled in the 3-2 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, bagging United’s first, before setting up Marcus Rashford for their second.
Greenwood linked up brilliantly with Rashford and striker Edinson Cavani all game, leaving plenty of fans purring.
And Solskjaer was full of praise for the England international after his side secured their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
DON’T MISS
He said: ”He composed himself really well, Mason. It looked like it was going to bounce off for him. He had to wait for it with his right foot.
“It was a good finish, and I think there is more to Mason than what people think, that he’s only got a left-foot.”
Meanwhile, Sancho is having arguably his worst season at Dortmund, having scored just twice in the Bundesliga all season – his first coming at the turn of the calendar year.
His miseries will no doubt be compounded by Dortmund’s dreadful season all round, currently sitting outside the Europa League qualification spots.
United were expected to make a move for Sancho during this month’s transfer window.
But speculation has been incredibly quiet, with Solskjaer insisting that he much prefers to do his transfer business in the summer.
It remains to be seen if United will come in for him at the end of the season – it could well depend on their financial situation which will be dictated by where they end up in the table.
