Marcus Rashford has rubbished claims the Manchester United dressing room is struggling to warm to interim boss Ralf Rangnick – stating he hopes to improve his game under the German and his coaching staff. The England international, who has endured arguably the toughest season of his career to date, has made a habit of issuing apologies to supporters on social media for the team’s underwhelming performances this season.

Yet in recent weeks, Rashford has decided to stay away from Twitter and Instagram.

The 24-year-old has been struggling for form having managed just two goals in 11 Premier League matches this term.

However, Rangnick has continued to call upon the forward despite his struggles in front of goal.

This week there have been reports of dressing room unrest at United with a staggering 17 players said to be considering their futures at Old Trafford.

The claims have now prompted Rashford to speak out, claiming the players are baffled by suggestions they’re struggling to take to Rangnick’s methods.

Rashford said: “I read something earlier that said I’d been quiet on here but what can I say that will make this better other than showing you all on the pitch?

“We’ve all been disappointed with recent performances and we’ve been as disappointed with the news coverage questioning our commitment to not only the manager and the coaching staff but the club.

“I have endless respect for both and I’m looking forward to bettering my game under the staff at Manchester United.

“I’m not sulking, I’m not unhappy, am I disappointed in some of my recent performances? Of course I am.

“I’m my own biggest critic. It’s been a tough start but I’m determined to prove my worth.

“My dedication and my desire to be here should never been in question. I love this club.”

Rangnick has since defended his corner, urging United’s unhappy stars to focus on helping the team get the results to turn their season around.

The former RB Leipzig boss said: “We have players with contracts expiring in the summer. We have maybe also one or two players who want to leave and are under contract.

“It’s about the players dealing with that in a professional way, everybody has the chance to show in training, to show up, and get a chance to play.

“If this is not the case, then of course the player, club and agents need to discuss the situation.

“As far as I can tell so far the players have been dealing with that in a professional I cannot say anything else, if I realise that is not the case I will address that with the players direct.”
