Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo didnt reject Saudi Arabia transfer this summer

Cristiano Ronaldo didn't reject a move to Al-Hilal over the summer – and the Saudi club have indicated he was open to the move.

Ronaldo was reportedly keen to leave Manchester United over the summer, but a move never materialised. However, Ronaldo had been close to moving to the desert, but negotiations fell through with Al-Hilal in the final stages.

Al-Hilal's club president Fahad ben Nafel has claimed it wasn't Ronaldo that stopped the move, instead it was the Sports Arbitration Centre. Nafel told the Thamanya YouTube channel: “Yes, we negotiated with Ronaldo.

"The problem was not in the money or the principle, Al-Hilal is able to bring in the stars of the world. But it was in the decision of the Sports Arbitration Centre that prevented us from registering the players.

"We did not stop negotiating with the players despite the decision to ban, but we were delaying entering the final stage of the negotiations until the ban was lifted.”

Al-Hilal had been banned from registering players after a bizarre situation saw Mohamed Kanno have two contracts at two separate clubs – including Al-Hilal.
