Manchester United staff believe Amad can be a first-team player once he returns from his loan at Sunderland, reports say. The Red Devils have the option to recall the youngster in January to give Erik ten Hag a fresh option in attack.
Amad joined United from Atalanta in January 2021 for a fee that could rise to £37million. However, he has made just nine appearances in all competitions for the club to date.
The Ivory Coast international had a largely unsuccessful spell on loan at Rangers in the second half of last season. He featured under Ten Hag in pre-season upon his return but was then sent out on loan to Championship newcomers Sunderland.
After a slow start, Amad has become a regular of late for the Black Cats. He has three goals in his last five appearances, including in away wins at Huddersfield and Birmingham.
Man Utd's next six Premier League fixtures
And the Manchester Evening News claims United staff have been impressed with his performances. They feel he can live up to the hype surrounding him when he first agreed to join the club over two years ago.
Staff at Carrington believe a run of regular first-team football is what he needed and now he is getting that in the second tier of the English game. They feel starting 10 games in a row will be a good marker to see the level he is currently at.
Amad has started Sunderland’s last five fixtures, playing the full 90 minutes in four of them. Sunderland have five further Championship games scheduled before the January transfer window opens, starting with the visit of Millwall this Saturday.
Therefore United and Ten Hag may then feel he is at the required level to return and boost their attacking resources. United are on the lookout for reinforcements in January following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo.

It is too early to suggest Amad can be the player to fill the shoes left by the Portugal superstar. However, with United potentially competing on four fronts, Ten Hag may need all the options he can get hold of.
PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo is the club’s top transfer target for January. The Netherlands international has scored in each of his country’s three World Cup matches to date.
Gakpo is three years older than Amad and has played a considerably higher number of professional matches in his career to date. But the 20-year-old’s form is giving United food for thought after an initial unconvincing start to his time at the club.
