Man Utd squad v Roma missing three injured first-teamers and youngsters included

Manchester United have announced a 24-man squad for their Europa League semi-final second leg versus Roma.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side took control of the contest last Thursday, producing a comfortable 6-2 win at Old Trafford to put the Red Devils in a strong position.

United must now finish the job in Italy as Solskjaer goes in search of his first piece of silverware as manager of the club.

The Red Devils will be without the attacking duo of Anthony Martial and Daniel James for the trip to Rome, who both miss out due to injury. There is also no place for defender Phil Jones, who is a long-term absentee.

Elsewhere, there was space in the squad for three youngsters. 21-year-old Reserve goalkeeper Nathan Bishop will travel with the team, alongside 19-year-old academy star Anthony Elanga and Amad Diallo.

Ahead of the second leg, Solskjaer praised his fitness staff for the role they are playing at the club and the way in which his side are coping with a packed fixture schedule.

We’ve got great staff," he said at his pre-match press conference.

"Fantastic fitness staff. It’s been a process since I came in. We’ve brought some young staff in. Young Charlie has been tremendous, working on robustness, resilience. Being able to play 50 games for Man United.

"A winning Man United team has players who can play 45, 50 games at a high, high standard. When you don't play you have to be prepared. When you’re a sub I know how difficult it is to get the complete match fitness, by not playing complete full games.

"When you play games you get into a rhythm and then you have to hope you don't get injuries.”
