Manchester United are yet to spend a penny in the January transfer window. However, some budget could potentially be freed up by the flurry of outgoings that the club are preparing for between now and the end of the month.

The Red Devils moved into the top four after a 1-0 victory over West Ham on Saturday evening.

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to score the winner with one of the final kicks of the game, converting from close range after a neat pass from Edinson Cavani.

Anthony Martial was also involved in the goal, slipping the ball through to Uruguayan for the assist, and it could be his last involvement of the season.

Martial’s opportunities over the past few seasons have been very limited, this season especially, and he has become frustrated at having to succumb to a seat on the bench.

La Liga outfit Sevilla previously approached United with a loan offer for the Frenchman, but that was declined as they were not willing to cover all of the forward’s £200,000-per-week wages as well as the £6million loan fee.

And the Red Devils might have found a club willing to meet their requirements; Juventus.

According to The Athletic, the Serie A side are amongst a whole host of clubs that are expected to approach United with an offer in the coming days.

Martial has scored once in eight Premier League appearances so far this season – granted, in limited minutes – and a move elsewhere could see the 26-year-old get his career back on track and prevent it from derailing any further.

But the former AS Monaco star is not the only one that will be hoping a loan spell elsewhere can help them feature more regularly and re-find their form.

Jesse Lingard, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has reportedly been offered to newly-lucrative Newcastle, though that deal will only take place if the Magpies are willing to cover all of the Englishman’s wages and pay a minor fee.

Donny van de Beek and Dean Henderson have also both been linked with loan spells away from Old Trafford, though a deal has not materialised for either player yet.

Asked at the weekend about whether players would be sold or sent out on loan this weekend, Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick replied: “I don’t know.

“I know which players would want to leave.

“I know that there are some negotiations with clubs but I am not involved in that. I will probably be posted and made aware if something is happening. We will all have to wait and see what happens.”

The former RB Leipzig has been unable to improve the team ready for his successor next summer to date, though he may be able to invest some of the funds from the aforementioned sales to add a sprinkling of talent to the squad.

It remains to be seen where Martial, and the rest of United’s fringe players, will play his football for the remainder of the season and who Rangnick will be keen to keep at the club.
