Manchester United are said to have rejected a swap deal this summer from Juventus which would have seen Aaron Ramsey join the club and Nemanja Matic go the other way. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been linked with a new central-midfielder all summer.

Nemanja Matic appears to be a player in decline – recently turned 33, made just 20 Premier League appearances last season.

However, it appears he is still a valued member of Solskjaer’s squad, and is worth more than many may have thought.

With United on the lookout for a new midfielder, the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Ruben Neves have frequently popped up.

Unsettled Juventus man Ramsey is also believed to have been considered, with an offer even being put on the table by the Serie A side.

According to The Transfer Window podcast, Juve were willing to include Ramsey in a swap deal that would have seen Matic go the other way.

But host Duncan Castles explained that it was turned down by the Red Devils.

He revealed: “Juventus have during the summer proposed a swap deal for Nemanja Matic which would have seen Aaron Ramsey going the other way for United.

“It was rejected by the Manchester club.”

Meanwhile, the rumours of Neves’ possible departure from Wolves continue to rumble on.

And new Molineux boss Bruno Lage has admitted that while he wants to keep the Portugal international, the right bid would secure his services.

“All the top players we have are linked with all the clubs in the world,” said the Wolves boss when quizzed on the midfielder’s future.

“If you go to Portugal, the top players at Benfica are all linked with moves to Wolves. Ruben is happy here and we are happy with him.

“We are not thinking to let anyone leave, but every player has a price. You never know, if Messi changes to PSG then anyone can go.”

When asked if Wolves have received any bids for Neves, Lage replied: “Real proposals? Not yet.”
