Man Utd ‘refuse Maguire loan move’ as Erik ten Hag eyes two transfers

Manchester United are reportedly not willing to allow Harry Maguire to leave on loan this summer. The Red Devils are only prepared to entertain a permanent switch with interest expected to intensify from several Premier League clubs including West Ham, Everton and Newcastle.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Maguire is open to leaving the club in pursuit of more regular playing time. West Ham had a £30m bid accepted by Man Utd for their former skipper but Maguire’s high wage expectations proved to be a problem.
The Hammers have recently re-opened talks with Maguire but it is far from clear if the England international will make the switch to the London Stadium before the September 1st deadline.
In terms of incomings, United are still scrambling to bring in a new left-back with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia out injured. Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso and Brentford’s Rico Henry are the three main options for Erik ten Hag.
Meanwhile, United are also keeping a close eye on free agent Ryan Bertrand and Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham. Cucurella and Alonso seem to be the two top choices with approaches made for both players.

However, several reports claim Alonso has no interest in leaving Camp Nou. 90min claims United have been offered the chance to sign him after featuring in just one of Barcelona’s opening three La Liga fixtures.
But Alonso, who previously spent six years in the Premier League playing for Chelsea, is understood to want to stay and fight for his place. The Spaniard joined Barca last season on a one-year contract after leaving Chelsea by mutual consent a day earlier. In January, he signed a further one-year extension which is set to expire in 2024.
Besides a new left-back, United are also on the lookout for a midfielder with Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and Sofyan Ambrabat of Fiorentina in their sights.
