Manchester United have added yet another transfer target as they scramble to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad, according to reports. The Red Devils apparently want Napoli star Hirving Lozano after having a mega-money bid for Ajax ace Antony rejected on Wednesday.
United suffered their latest summer transfer window setback when they had a £67.5million proposal for winger Antony turned down by Ajax. The Brazilian has been a key target for Ten Hag ever since the former Ajax boss swapped the Eredivisie for life in the Premier League.
A plethora of other forwards have been linked with the club, from PSV starlet Cody Gakpo to the experienced former West Ham man Marko Arnautovic. And now it has emerged that they have added another player to their shortlist.
Napoli winger Lozano is now wanted by United. Premier League rivals Everton are also interested in a potential swoop for the Mexican.

That is according to Italian football journalist Gianluca di Marzio, who claims that any deal for the player would be difficult as he is currently a regular starter for Napoli.
He has been added to a long list of targets at United, who are desperate for additions after a woeful start to the 2022-23 season. They were beaten 2-1 by Brighton on the opening weekend before being thumped 4-0 by Brentford in a humiliating defeat.
Ten Hag has demanded signings, while several reports claim that a group of senior players have approached the club’s board to insist that new signings be made. United looked weak all over the pitch against the Bees and could have been smashed by an even bigger score line.

A toothless attack failed to create enough chances. Cristiano Ronaldo’s possible departure before the end of the transfer window adds another dynamic to United’s business.
Ten Hag made clear upon his appointment that he needed a new forward but one is yet to be signed. The Old Trafford hierarchy initially appeared to give up on a pursuit of Antony, with Ajax demanding an astronomical fee for the 22-year-old.
But United have since reprised their interest and Sky Sports claim that an offer was knocked back this week. It is unclear if they will go in with another bid or try to acquire other targets, one of which is apparently Lozano.
The 27-year-old scored six goals and registered six assists across all competitions last season. He joined Napoli from PSV in 2019.
