Man Utd plotting Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele double transfer swoop
Man United: Dembele transfer ‘risk worth taking’ says pundit
Manchester United will make moves for both Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele this summer, but will only sign one of the wingers, reports suggest. United are set for a busy summer transfer window, and are eager to revisit two of their previous targets.
United are set for a busy summer transfer window at the end of the season.
The Red Devils have been quiet in the winter window, and are yet to make any moves on deadline day.
They brought Amad Diallo to the store after his move from Atalanta, but aren’t going to do any business before the window shuts.
Instead, United will wait until the end of the season before their next spending spree.
Last summer, they spent the entire window trying to convince Borussia Dortmund to sell Sancho, only to end up unable to make a deal.
They were told by the Bundesliga side to pay £108million for the English wonderkid, but refused to meet that asking price.
United waited until late in the window in the hope Dortmund would lower their asking price, but were forced to move on when they didn’t.
As a result, they started to look for alternative targets for the right wing position, with Dembele emerging as another option.
The French winger was heavily linked with a move away from Barcelona after failing to find his feet at the Nou Camp.
Barca were said to be willing to offload him, but Dembele insisted he wanted to stay put and fight for his place.
Now, however, he faces a difficult future at Barcelona. His contract will run out in 2022, and if he isn’t sold this summer he’ll be free to sign a pre-contract agreement in a year’s time.
And United are believed to be willing to reignite their interest in signing the 23-year-old.
However, according to Spanish outlet SPORT they will only sign one of the two wingers.
United will reportedly make a bid for both stars, but will only choose one to sign.
Dembele seems like a less likely target, as all signs suggest he wants to sign a new contract and extend his stay at the Nou Camp.
He apparently feels like he can be a big part of the team’s future going forward, and isn’t willing to leave before the end of his deal.
