Man Utd ‘plot fresh bid’ for Wolves star Ruben Neves with Erik ten Hag a big fan
Erik ten Hag is reportedly a huge fan of Wolves star Ruben Neves, and Manchester United are on the verge of making a 'fresh bid' as they target midfield options.
That's according to The Sun, who claim that United are ready to make one final push to sign the midfielder after initially being rejected in January. United bid £35million for the 25-year-old during the January transfer window, but although he was originally wanted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ten Hag is also said to be keen.
With the Dutchman interested in signing the midfielder, United are said to make a final bid in the coming weeks as they look to support their new manager. But Wolves will be reluctant to let their man go for anything less than £50m.
United were interested in signing Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong, who worked under Ten Hag at Ajax. But with the Dutchman committed to making things work at the Nou Camp, United have had to look for other options.
And those alternatives include highly rated youngster Manu Kone, who has impressed at Borussia Monchengladbach after signing from Toulouse last summer. But although Ten Hag will want to prepare for the future, he needs Premier League quality to get started.
Neves has become one of the most desired midfielders in the Premier League, alongside both Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips, who United also share an interest in. But Neves is the no.1 target after conceding defeat in the De Jong chase.

And with Wolves already lining up a potential replacement, United are growing in confidence that they can reach an agreement. Wolves have targeted Sporting Lisbon midfielder Palhinha, and at the age of 26, he's an ideal replacement.
Wolves were trying to negotiate a new deal with Neves, as his current contract expires in 2024. But after talks stalled, Wolves have began to wonder whether it makes sense to cash in on the star while they can.
With the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata all vacating Old Trafford, it leaves United short in midfield. And Neves would be a welcome addition, and an integral part of Ten Hag's rebuild.
