The Glazer family have reportedly consulted Cristiano Ronaldo on the prospect of potentially approaching Zinedine Zidane to take over at Old Trafford. The Portuguese forward struck a close bond with the former Real Madrid boss during their time together at the Bernabeu and the Frenchman remains one of several options on the table for United if they were to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Problematically though, Zidane is not believed to be in a hurry to return to management just yet.

He parted company with Los Blancos at the end of last season after returning to the club and now he is eyeing Didier Deschamps’ position in charge of the France national team.

But still, he’s an option United are willing to explore and there is hope his stance on joining the club could potentially change if the club were to approach him.

According to Bleacher Report’s Rob Blanchette, not all hope has been lost and there is still ‘every chance’ Zidane could join United.

That’s because the Glazers are said to have consulted Ronaldo about the appointment and Zidane’s former player could not play a part in potentially persuading Zizou to join the club.

Ronaldo, a two-time Ballon d’Or’s during his time with Zidane at Real Madrid, also won the Champions League three times under him, UEFA Super Club two times, the Club World Cup winner twice while also winning La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup.

Solskjaer appears to be hanging by a thread at Old Trafford and the lack of options currently on the table is keeping him in the job.

Having also worked with Raphael Varane, there is a feeling that Zidane could be the perfect coach to come and shake up this team of underperforming stars.
