Man Utd ‘offered chance to sign Edin Dzeko’ as Odion Ighalo transfer replacement
Man Utd: How will Sheff Utd loss hit title hopes?
Manchester United were reportedly offered the chance to sign former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko from Roma earlier this month, alongside their noisy neighbours. The Bosnian has been looking for a way out of the Italian capital, following a fall out with manager Paulo Fonseca.
Fonseca is currently refusing to allow Dzeko to train with the main squad following an ongoing dispute.
The striker has been stripped of the captaincy in the aftermath of the 4-3 Coppa Italia defeat to Spezia.
General manager and squad favourite Gianluca Gomber was relieved of his duties after Roma forfeited the match due to the use of six substitutions.
Dzeko is unlikely to leave the club in the final days of the transfer window but he is being offered around.

Reports in the Italian press from Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport, claim that Dzeko has been offered to both Manchester clubs.
However, CdS claim that the player’s entourage did not receive positive signals from United following the proposal.
New general manager Tiago Pinto is confident he can oversee the reintegration of Dzeko into the Roma squad.
United are unlikely to make any additions to their squad between now and the end of the window.

Ighalo penned an emotional farewell to United fans on social media, thanking them for their support as he fulfilled a childhood dream.
“It’s so hard to see this dream come to an end,” Ighalo wrote.
“But I give God the glory for helping me fulfil this lifelong dream of putting on a Manchester United shirt as a player and represent this great club, it was indeed an honour I will forever cherish and be grateful for.
“To the manager I say thank you for trusting and believing in me when many did not. To my amazing team-mates I will miss you guys, it was always fun and a time I look forward to training and spending time with all of you. And I pray we win the league and FA Cup this year.
“To the best fans in the world [the Manchester United fans] we have missed you, but we hear your voices cheering us on from afar, we can’t wait to have you all back on the stands.
“I’m still and would remain a MANCHESTER UNITED FAN forever. Once a Red, always a Red. Thank you @manchesterunited and God bless.”
