Man Utd offer Martinez and Varane injury update after fears swirl
Erik ten Hag reviews Man Utd's draw with Sevilla
Manchester United have confirmed that Lisandro Martinez will miss the remainder of the season with a fractured metatarsal bone in his foot. Raphael Varane is also set for a spell on the sidelines after also suffering an injury in Thursday’s Europa League clash with Sevilla.
United were cruising at Old Trafford, leading 2-0 in the first leg before Martinez went down in agony on the ball, clutching his right foot.
Sevilla players helped carry the 25-year-old off the pitch before he went to the dressing room in tears on a stretcher.
There were initial fears that his Achilles was the issue, which could have ruled him out until 2024, but a metatarsal requires at least six weeks of recovery.
United added that Martinez is expected to have made a full recovery by the start of next season.
