Man Utd need Jose Mourinho favour as John Murtough launches Roma enquiry
Manchester United have enquired about the availability of Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola as they continue their search for reinforcements at left-back. Luke Shaw’s muscular injury has proven to be worse than initially feared and now John Murtough is scrambling to find a solution for Erik ten Hag within the transfer market.
Diogo Dalot is slotting in at left-back for the meantime but ideally, United want to sign another full-back to share the workload.
Sky Italia are reporting that United have now made checks on Roma’s Spinazzola to see whether a deal could be viable.
The Italy international has featured in both of Roma’s Serie A matches so far this season – starting once.
Now United must determine whether their former boss Jose Mourinho would be willing to sanction the player’s departure this late in the window.

Prior to a serious Achilles injury at Euro 2020, Spinazzola was recognised as one of the best wing-backs in world football.
Mourinho continues to operate with a back-three meaning Spinazzola is not a natural fit for Ten Hag’s system.
That could ultimately work against the 30-year-old as United continue to work their way through their newly-devised left-back shortlist.
Marc Cucurella is a concrete target and Chelsea seem willing to let him leave on loan.

But there are several other interesting options on the table including Sergio Reguilon of Tottenham.
Spurs want to sell and they recently saw talks with Real Sociedad over a loan collapse after the Basque club landed Kieran Tierney from Arsenal.
Marcos Alonso of Barcelona is another intriguing option for United as Xavi could sanction the Spaniard’s departure.
Finally, Ten Hag’s former Ajax player Nicolas Tagliafico is also on United’s radar.
He currently plays for Lyon in France but has previously played with the likes of Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Antony under the Dutchman at Ajax.
