Manchester United are reportedly keen to tempt Brendan Rodgers into becoming their new manager if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is sacked. The Leicester City boss is among the favourites to replace the Norwegian at Old Trafford.
Rodgers is held in high regard by the Red Devils hierarchy after impressing in his role with the Foxes following success with Celtic.
The Northern Irishman also came within touching distance of winning the Premier League with Liverpool in 2014.
But Man Utd may have to rethink their decision to chase Rodgers as he has an appalling record in European competitions.
United have suffered a dismal run of form after winning four of their opening five Premier League games this season.
But the team have won two Champions League matches and are top of the Group F table.

And Man Utd chiefs will be desperate to do well in the competition after years of underperformance since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.
There are a whole host of managers being linked to the Old Trafford hotseat – and many of them possess better European records than Rodgers.
So bosses at United will be asking themselves whether appointing the 48-year-old is a judicious thing to do.
Rodgers oversaw six Champions League games during his time at Liverpool – but he was only able to win one of them.
The Reds looked certain to at least qualify for the first round of knockout games after being drawn alongside Basel and Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets Razgrad as well as Real Madrid in the 2014/15 campaign.
But Liverpool’s sole win came at home to Ludogorets as they were defeated twice by Los Blancos and picked up just one point from their two matches with Basel. And they finished third in their group.
Rodgers also managed Liverpool for 16 games in the Europa League across three seasons. But he only managed to win six times.
The former Swansea boss moved to Celtic following his Liverpool dismissal but only won one Champions League game from 12 attempts.
Meanwhile, Rodgers has fared a little better in the Europa League with Leicester but still hasn’t set the competition on fire with his current side.
Last season, the Foxes won four of their eight games but exited at the first knockout stage.
And this season Leicester have only won one of their opening three group games.
Manchester United need a manager who can win on the biggest stage of all. Whether Rodgers would be able to do that with their current squad is a question which can only be answered if he moved to Old Trafford.
Only time will tell whether he gets the opportunity to make that leap.
