Man Utd make Rashford injury gamble ‘decision’ ahead of Sevilla clash
Ten Hag gives Man Utd team news update for Everton match
Manchester United have reportedly decided not to risk playing Marcus Rashford in their Europa League quarter-final first leg showdown with Sevilla on Thursday evening. Manager Erik ten Hag is set to be without his top-scorer after the flying forward limped off against Everton at the weekend.
Rashford has taken his game to the next level under Ten Hag this campaign, racking up 28 goals in all competitions. With the Red Devils rediscovering a taste for silverware, they are set to throw everything at Sevilla in a bid to add to their Carabao Cup triumph earlier this season.
Despite his importance to the side, The Mirror claim that United are not prepared to risk Rashford in the first leg. The 25-year-old pulled up immediately during the closing stages of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Everton, in which he set up Anthony Martial to close out the show.
Rashford underwent a scan yesterday and is likely to miss out on the Sevilla tie as a precaution amid concerns that phasing him back into the action too soon could aggravate the issue.

Ten Hag has other high-quality options to call upon in Rashford’s absence, with Martial beginning to stamp his authority on the side after a long injury lay-off. Jadon Sancho was also impressive against Everton, setting up Scott McTominay to open the scoring.
Despite sitting a long way behind the Premier League leaders, United are still in contention for an unlikely treble this season. The Carabao Cup is already in the bag, while they are among the favourites to lift the Europa League and the FA Cup.

Having struggled badly for form in La Liga this season, Sevilla recently made the decision to change managers, but United would be unwise to underestimate the Spanish side, who have won the Europa League on a record six prior occasions.
Rashford is by far and away United’s top scorer in European competitions this season, with his six-goal haul more than three times as many as anyone else in the Red Devils’ squad. Regarding the frontman’s injury, Ten Hag kept his cards close to his chest after the Everton game.
“I can’t say at this moment,” he stated. “Obviously he went off and we have to wait for the diagnosis and we will see.” Despite Rashford reportedly preparing to sit out, it is not all doom and gloom for United, who are set to welcome a handful of key stars back into the fold.
Casemiro has been forced to watch on from the sidelines in recent weeks due to suspension, but he is eligible to play against Sevilla. Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen was fit enough for the bench against the Toffees as he gradually works his way back from a two-month injury absence.
