Man Utd make Jadon Sancho ‘transfer decision’ after Erik ten Hag reports concern

Man Utd's five worst decisions since Erik ten Hag took over

Manchester United will move to offload Jadon Sancho in the January transfer window at the request of Erik ten Hag, according to reports. Sancho’s Old Trafford career has fallen into disrepair as his public row with Ten Hag remains unresolved after over a month, nearing a fitting end to his disastrous spell.

Sancho has refused to apologise to the United manager after effectively calling him a liar over his exclusion from the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal at the start of last month.

Ten Hag claimed he had left the 23-year-old winger at home due to poor training levels, which the latter later insisted was ‘untrue’ in an explosive social media statement.

That post, pinned at the top of his X, formerly Twitter, profile for over a week, has since been deleted.

However, during the September international break, crunch talks weren’t successful after Sancho refused to apologise for his defiant actions, leading to his exile from the United first team.

He is still training with the club’s U18s, and there is little sign of a reprieve, with both parties holding firm on their respective stances.

It will reportedly result in Sancho’s departure in January after Ten Hag’s concerns over the incident’s impact on his players came to light.

According to the Mail, Ten Hag has told club chiefs that Sancho has proven to be a disruptive influence on his dressing room.

He has earmarked Sancho’s attitude rubbing off on his other stars as a major concern on top of his below-par efforts in training and inconsistent punctuality – although that has been strongly denied by sources close to the player.

The report adds that Ten Hag has told the club that other players’ attitude has improved since removing his No 25 from the picture, suggesting he be moved on for the long-term benefit of his project.

And it’s claimed that United are willing to subsidise Sancho’s £300,000-a-week wages to send him out on loan from the second half of the campaign.

Ten Hag is said to have demanded that Sancho make two apologies before returning to his plans in M16 – publicly and in front of his teammates.

The England international’s failure to do so has contributed to United reportedly agreeing to offload him at the earliest opportunity, though there are concerns suitors won’t match their £60million valuation in January.

It leaves a short loan the most likely outcome, with the view of a permanent exit next summer.

But a disappointing temporary stint elsewhere would diminish Sancho’s value further, increasing the loss on the £73m United splashed to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
