Man Utd ‘make contact’ over separate deal after fruitless Ibiza transfer meeting
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Feyenoord over the possibility of signing Dutch goalkeeper Justin Bijlow as part of their summer shake-up at Old Trafford. The development has emerged amid suggestions the Red Devils could be priced out of a move for Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana despite the club’s burning desire to get the deal over the line.
Although Onana is happy to stay at Inter, there is huge appetite from Erik ten Hag to bring his former player to the Premier League where he could serve as David de Gea’s long-term replacement.
Yet talks have so far proven complex with Inter as the Champions League finalists continue to hold firm in transfer negotiations.
United’s director of football operations David Harrison is said to have flown to Ibiza earlier this week to hold face-to-face discussions with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio.
The club had been largely anticipated to lodge their first formal bid but now the noises from those with knowledge of negotiations are suggesting United could turn their back on the transfer.

Now The Athletic are reporting that United have made contact to sign Feyenoord’s Bijlow, who could be an alternative target for Onana.
Bijlow featured 25 times in the Eredivisie last season as the Rotterdam giants stormed their way to the title.
Now he could be handed the chance to move to United this summer and there is absolutely no doubt he would cost a fraction of Onana’s asking price.
United must now decide whether they’re prepared to fund a move for the Cameroonian or whether they want to preserve funds for their pursuit of a new striker.

If United are able to offload the likes of Harry Maguire and Fred plus free up David de Gea’s wages – they stand in greater stead of satisfying Inter’s demands.
However, the club have so far struggled to shift their transfer-listed players and they are also yet to provide clarity on De Gea’s future.
If Onana is not attainable there is still a high possibility that the Spaniard could be handed a fresh contract at Old Trafford.
Dean Henderson’s United future is also hanging in the balance as Nottingham Forest continue to play the patient game.
Steve Cooper’s side would like to make Henderson’s loan move permanent this summer but they are awaiting the outcome of De Gea’s situation.
Tom Heaton has also reportedly been told he cannot join Luton this summer as United try to protect the depth of their goalkeeping department.
Bijlow has been with Feyenoord since his youth career and has also been capped eight times by Holland.
