Arsenal legend Perry Groves thinks Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick ‘has no power’ at the club and there is a sense of entitlement with some of the players in the dressing room. United were held to a 1-1 draw in the early kick-off at Old Trafford on Saturday after Che Adams cancelled out Jadon Sancho’s first-half strike.

It was United’s third disappointing result in a row after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Championship Middlesbrough and being held to a 1-1 draw by bottom of the table Burnley last week.

The Red Devils are now fifth after Saturday’s draw, one point behind West Ham in fourth with a game in the hand, but the chasing pack of Arsenal, Wolves and Tottenham have also played fewer matches than United.

And former Arsenal winger and now talkSPORT pundit Groves has outlined what he feels some of the issues going on at United are.

“What there is, is a sense of entitlement with Manchester United players and it reminds me of Arsenal c.2010-11 where it was all a bit too complacent, a little bit too comfortable, sense of entitlement because you’re playing for a big club,” he said on talkSPORT.

“Ralf Rangnick has no power at all. So you got players their looking at him. Even if he was to implement his own ideas.

“And this is how the players work, they look at him and go ‘you aren’t going to be here that long mate’ so there’s no fear factor whatsoever. If you look at the team they played yesterday.

The show host then interrupted and said: “That’s a disgusting attitude from the Manchester United dressing room.”

Before Groves continued: “It is but that’s what happened. The more worrying thing is you’ve got [Cristiano] Ronaldo, [Paul] Pogba, [Bruno] Fernandes.

“We all know how talented they are with the ball.

“Off the ball, they’re not going to give you anything at all. That’s not what they want to do, so you can afford to have one, maybe in your team.

“When playing well under [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer, Fernandes was the one who was making everything tick.

“But he didn’t have to track back, he didn’t have to do his stuff.

“So them three, against the decent teams you can’t have three that aren’t going to work off the ball.

“But then if you were watching the game yesterday [Saturday], you add Sancho and Marcus Rashford into that, who can’t be bothered to track back or close down.

So then you have five, five players who aren’t prepared to work without the ball because they aren’t frightened of the repercussions from the manager.”

United will now switch their focus to playing host to Graham Potter’s Brighton on Tuesday, before a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds next Sunday.
