Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Vinicius Jr as part of their negotiations to bring in Raphael Varane from Real Madrid. Los Blancos are looking to offload a number of players this summer as they position themselves for a big-name move, most likely to be Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.

Madrid and United have been in talks over the transfer of Varane for a number of weeks, gathering momentum after Jadon Sancho’s deal from Borussia Dortmund had been agreed.

Talks appear to be progressing well, although the true fate of the move may become clear when the Frenchman returns from his post-Euro 2020 break.

During the negotiations, The Mirror have reported that Brazilian winger Vinicius has been proposed as a potential signing for the Red Devils.

A bid of around £68million is thought to be sufficient to prise the 21-year-old away from the Bernabeu, a serious outlay for a club who have already splashed out on Sancho.

As such, a loan deal is also thought to be a possibility, something which Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may be tempted by given that Marcus Rashford recently opted to undergo shoulder surgery for a longstanding injury.

The England winger is likely to be sidelined until October, although United do have a number of wingers to deputise which would negate the need for a player like Vinicius.

Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Amad Diallo are just three, along with Sancho of course, who will be chomping at the bit to make a statement next campaign.

Despite the fact United are seemingly looking to strengthen in other areas, Vinicius is a hugely exciting youngster with bags of natural talent.

At just 21, the winger has notched more than 100 appearances for the mighty Madrid, with end product and goal-scoring the main elements of his game.

Last term, he only managed six goals in all competitions despite being a first-team regular.

With Carlo Ancelotti re-entering the fray in the Spanish capital, the Brazilian may have his work cut out gaining regular first-team minutes sporting those numbers, as seasoned pros like Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema line-up alongside him.

Regardless, his limitless potential is clear to see and if Madrid are indeed keen to offload him, someone would surely make them an offer.

The Madrid revamp is reportedly all part of a plan to go big in the next 12 months, whether it be Mbappe in this transfer window, Haaland in 2022, or indeed both.

Chelsea are attempting to rival them for the Norwegian’s signature, although pulling off a deal this summer is proving to be hugely expensive and difficult to orchestrate.

At the very least, with the latest proposal by Los Blancos, United have been made aware of the availability of one of Europe’s hottest young wingers. Although, they will surely attempt to secure Varane’s services first.
