Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to sign Erling Haaland – and they already know what Mino Raiola will demand in transfer talks. Borussia Dortmund entered the summer transfer window fully aware that Haaland would be the subject of intense transfer interest.
From the outside, it appeared as though Dortmund may well have no choice in being open to offers given that he can leave for a reported £68million fee next summer due to a release clause in his contract.
But once Jadon Sancho was sold to United, the Bundesliga outfit made it clear they weren’t willing to sell Haaland in the same window.
That didn’t stop Mino Raiola from talking to prospective new clubs for Haaland.
Chelsea had shown the most interest this summer in making a deal happen before they moved on to Romelu Lukaku.

Now Haaland is set to stay at Dortmund for at least one more year, but a move away next summer looks increasingly likely.
Chelsea are probably out of the running now having signed Lukaku for £97.5m while Manchester City appear set on signing Harry Kane for even more money.
Real Madrid may also rule themselves out in their attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe.
And it appears as though United are now the frontrunners to sign Haaland having failed in their attempt a few years ago.

According to Bild, the Red Devils are in ‘pole position’ to sign Haaland next summer with Dortmund reportedly resigned to losing their star man.
When United first tried to sign Haaland before he moved to Dortmund in January 2020, they were put off by demands made in talks with Mino Raiola.
But those demands were pittance in comparison to what Raiola reportedly demanded during talks this summer.
Bild go on to detail what Raiola asked from Chelsea during talks earlier in the summer.
It is claimed that Haaland’s agent wanted the Blues to offer wages worth £820,000-a-week (€960,000).
Not only that, Raiola wanted an eye-watering sum of £34.2m (€40m) in agent fees for any transfer.
Of course, United already work closely with Raiola with the super agent representing Paul Pogba.
And that relationship has been tested over the past few years with Raiola repeatedly stirring up rumours on Pogba’s future at Old Trafford.
