Manchester United legend Roy Keane has hit out at his former side after they fell to a convincing 2-0 defeat at home to local rivals Manchester City. The Irishman also disagreed with a complimentary statement made by Blues star Phil Foden in the aftermath of the loss as City looked to have breezed towards the final whistle.
Saturday’s clash was high-stakes for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a succession of poor results in recent weeks.
Victory at Tottenham last weekend was a brief reprieve from the pressure, but a troubling midweek draw against Atalanta was made worse by City’s trip to Old Trafford.
An Eric Bailly own goal and a Bernardo Silva finish proved the difference on the day, with United fans left fuming at full time.
And they were not the only ones, with Keane calling out a crucial Red Devils duo who had been over-run throughout the encounter.

A fresh-faced Foden had claimed that Old Trafford was always a “difficult place to come” in his post-match interview.
But after the full-time whistle, Keane vented to Sky Sports: “It felt worse [than Liverpool match]. They were happy to keep the ball and toyed with United. So poor.
“The difference in class, decision making, everything. It was men v boys. United are so off it it’s unbelievable.
“Foden said it’s a tough place to come. It’s not. Ask Everton, ask Aston Villa, ask Liverpool. Teams are getting joy.
“I know the away record over the last few years has been fantastic but it’s what you do at home that sets you up to win trophies. United’s home form and performance.
“The goal at half time killed it. They needed to go in at half time 1-0 and regroup.
“United are just so poor. Fred and Mctominay aren’t good enough. It was so comfortable for City.
“Foden’s getting interviewed there. The way I look at it after a derby you should be drained you should be exhausted and no energy left. He was chatting there as if he had a training game.”
Indeed, Pep Guardiola’s side appeared to take their foot off the gas during the second half as they passed Man Utd into a state of hypnosis.
They are troubling times indeed for Solskjaer and his team, with the potential for a big decision to be made over the international break.
After their 5-0 thrashing at home to Liverpool two weeks ago, claims were made that the Norwegian had three games to save his job.
Three games later and the team’s performances are still prompting fierce criticism from the likes of Keane, and United’s former captain is unlikely to be the last respected figure asking serious questions of the Red Devils.
