Man Utd icon Dwight Yorke ‘will be ready for Spurs job in two years’
Premier League legend Dwight Yorke reckons he will be ready to take on a managerial job the size of Tottenham within the space of two years – despite having just one six-month stint in the A-League on his CV. The former Manchester United striker is now ready to kick on with his coaching career and hopes he can make a return to England despite failing to receive any significant openings since throwing his hat into the ring.
Back in April 2019, Yorke was interviewed for the Sutton United vacancy but didn’t manage to land the position.
He has also hit out at former club Aston Villa after he was overlooked for their managerial vacancy when Steven Gerrard replaced Dean Smith at the helm in 2021.
Since then, Yorke has tried his luck in Australia joining Macarthur FC as the club’s second-ever manager but he left in January after just six months in charge.
When discussing the Tottenham job with Sport Lens, Yorke declared he felt he would be ready for a role like Spurs within the space of two years.

Yorke said: “I’m at an early stage in my coaching career and there will be a time and place for me to do that once I make my way up the ladder.
“My time will come but not yet, I have to be sensible in my decision making and I have to admit the Premier League is not quite for me yet.
“In maybe two or three years, I’ll try to be in the category to get such a job like the Tottenham one now.”
It’s clear Yorke needs to bank some managerial experience in England to maximise his chances of making the grade with a club the size of Spurs.

The former Trinidad and Tobago striker is understood to have submitted his CV for the Aberdeen job back in January but he failed to land the role.
The Dons have since confirmed that interim manager Barry Robson will be remaining in charge until the end of the season.
During their lengthy managerial search which has failed to bear fruit, Yorke declared he would be a better option than Chris Wilder, who was also in the running before joining Watford.
Yorke told Football Odds: “I know of Chris. If Aberdeen are looking for a young, innovative, aspiring manager who wants to play good, attacking football on the front foot then I’m the guy they need.
“If you’re looking for an old, traditional guy with experience then maybe I’m not the right guy, but if you want some excitement and more fans through the turnstile then I am the guy they need. I can come with new ideas, excitement and make people have an identity with the club again. I’m a manager seeking a job because I currently don’t have one and I can’t turn my nose up at any job.
“I have to respect every team, and Aberdeen are a huge club. The greatest manager of all time has managed them so I’m fully aware of their history.
“I’ve always admired Scottish football and as an aspiring manager and if there becomes a point where I am the guy to take them forward then I want to have that conversation.
“That conversation hasn’t happened yet but I’m in the same boat as every other manager having to apply for jobs so that’s what I’ve done.”
Yorke is hopeful he will get a crack at a job in the Football League next so he can sharpen his tools before chancing his arm at a Premier League role.
