Manchester United’s hierarchy have reportedly decided they will not entertain offers for Paul Pogba in January, conceding that they are willing to lose him for free next summer if his contract situation fails to be resolved. The World Cup winner moved to rubbish reports earlier this week suggesting that he would only sign a new deal if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was relieved of his duties.
Pogba labelled the stories “fake news”, suggesting Solskjaer’s future will not prove decisive when it comes to making a decision on his future.
The saga has rumbled on for well over a year now and United would ideally like to keep the France international but talks are yet to progress between the parties.
Solskjaer is now fighting to stay in the job and the board are expected to give him three games to prove his worth: Tottenham, Atalanta and Manchester City.
But, he could be relieved from his duties if United fail to show any form of spirit when they head to north London this weekend to take on Spurs.

Pogba won’t feature until after the international break after picking up a three-match ban for his nasty two-footed lunge on Naby Keita in the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool.
The suspension has led to further doubts regarding Pogba’s long-term future at the club but whatever happens, United want him to stay until at least the end of the season.
According to the Irish Independent, the United board have decided they won’t be selling Pogba in January as he approaches the final six months of his deal.
Clubs often look to capitalise on their final chance to secure a fee for players approaching the end of their contracts but United do not want to weaken their squad ahead of a crucial second half of the season.

Pogba’s former manager Antonio Conte is also one of the main names in the frame to replace Solskjaer, should he be dismissed.
That could prove to be a potential game-changer for the 28-year-old, who flourished under the Italian at Juventus.
His former side, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona have all been linked with moves for Mino Raiola’s client.
The super-agent recently told The Times when quizzed on Pogba’s future “You would have to ask Manchester United about it.
“At this moment everything is calm. There is no update.”

Speaking after the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool, Paul Scholes questioned whether Pogba will ever play for Solskjaer again following last weekend’s red card.
“Paul Pogba coming on to the pitch at half-time to try and help the team and maybe get a little respectability about it, tries to stand on the ball, tries to show how strong he is in the middle of the pitch… gives the goal away,” said Scholes.
“Then, later on, gets sent off with a ridiculous tackle. Now you’re 5-0 down with 10 men. You’d have to think, if Ole’s still a manager there, will we see Pogba again in a United shirt?
“He’s caused mayhem over the last couple of years. Everyone knows what a talent he is, everybody trusts him, every manager trusts him, tried to give him his head and let him be the player he’s been.
“But with all the commotion, not signing his contract, almost holding the club to ransom, and then he comes on and does something like that.
“Look, he probably will play (again) won’t he? But I don’t think they will be missing anything if he doesn’t.
“He’s had numerous chances, he keeps saying he lacks consistency, but that is just (a lack of) discipline and disrespect for your manager and your team-mates, what he’s done today.”
