Man Utd hero Andy Cole joins Gary Neville in defending ex-team-mate Solskjaer
Andy Cole has joined Gary Neville in defending former team-mate and current Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Neville has resisted calling for Solskjaer to be sacked despite United's indifferent run of form in the Premier League.
In doing so he has received criticism from Red Devils supporters for being too lenient on his former Old Trafford team-mate.
But Cole, who himself spent five years alongside Solskjaer at United, has also jumped to the defence of the under-fire Norwegian.
He told Sky Sports: "The flak that Ole gets, I'll be brutally honest, it disappoints me. I don't think any manager should take that kind of flak.
"If it's Manchester United or a non-league manager, I think they're trying to work to the best of their ability.
"He's trying like everybody else who tried previously. Some of the comments people come out with, people say 'ah, because he's you're ex-team-mate'."
"Well if he's my ex-team-mate or not, if it was someone I didn't know I wouldn't like people to be talking about him the way they're talking about him."

"But yeah, I don't like it because when I played with Ole I got on very well with him, so to see the position he's in now and taking all the flak he takes now, it doesn't sit well with me.
"We all want Manchester United, ex-players and supporters, to be back where they were, but that takes time. We can talk about how much longer, but previous managers who have had the job have found themselves in the same position.

"So the stick that Ole takes now, at times I do think it's not nice."
The pressure on Solskjaer cooled after a 3-0 win over Tottenham towards the end of last month, but a subsequent 2-0 defeat to Man City put his position back in the spotlight once more.
Solskjaer faces another tricky run of fixtures after the international break, with United taking on Chelsea and Arsenal in the space of a few days at the start of December.
