Man Utd have to think twice about Kane as Levy sends message
‘A dream becomes reality’ – Harry Kane proud in becoming England’s all-time record scorer
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has delivered a hands-off warning to Manchester United regarding the transfer of Harry Kane. Levy isn’t keen on selling his star man and wants him to see out his career as a one-club man.
Kane is understood to be Man Utd’s number one summer transfer target as they look to strengthen their options up top. The England international’s contract runs out at the end of next season and with Kane showing no indication of wanting to extend his stay, Spurs may be forced to sell in the summer in order to cash in.
According to reports from La Parisien, who claim that PSG are also in the race for Kane’s signature, Tottenham have set an asking price of £88million on the player should their hand be forced. However, Levy doesn’t think this will be necessary and appears to be set on rejecting bids from potential suitors.
“I don’t consider myself a special negotiator or anything like that, I’m just acting in the best interests of my club,” he told the Cambridge University debating society when asked about the player’s future. “I think when it comes to the transfer it depends on the balance of power.
“If you have a player who you really don’t want to sell then you have every right to say no, you own the registration. It depends also on the character of the player, whether you feel at the end you can keep the player because we’re operating in a team sport, it’s very important that we keep the team together. Every circumstance is different.”
And Levy believes Kane will lift silverware at the club despite their 15-year baron run. He added: “He can absolutely win a trophy at Spurs.

“But being a legend is also important. The fact that he’s the top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur – he’s making history. I hope one day that there is a statue of Harry Kane outside our stadium.”
Kane has been with Tottenham since joining their academy in 2004 and is now the club’s top scorer with 274 goals in all competitions. The 29-year-old broke Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing record earlier this year, scoring the decisive brace in a Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
