Man Utd have the perfect answer if Morocco injury delays Sofyan Amrabat debut
Man Utd players' feelings towards Jadon Sancho after latest Erik ten Hag spat
Manchester United have a worthy alternative midfielder if Sofyan Amrabat is made to wait for his highly-anticipated debut through injury. On Thursday, Amrabat withdrew from the Morocco squad, sparking concerns that he won’t be fit for next weekend’s return to club football.
United signed Amrabat on a season-long loan worth £8.5million with the option to make the move permanent next summer for £17m.
He was the name on many fans’ lips throughout the transfer window, a movement intensified by the Red Devils’ turbulent start to the season.
But his injury worry on international duty may worsen Ten Hag’s woes rather than solve them, with Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo also sidelined.
If Amrabat is out of contention for Brighton and Hove Albion’s Premier League visit, Ten Hag will have Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Hannibal to select from.
And recent performances warrant the Dutchman keeping faith in Eriksen, whose latest eye-catching display fell for Denmark on Thursday evening.
United will hope to have plenty of the ball against Brighton at Old Trafford, and not many players in Ten Hag’s ranks specialise in that avenue like Eriksen.

The 31-year-old has started United’s last two games after Mount suffered an injury and left many impressed.
Eriksen scored his first home goal against Nottingham Forest to launch United’s 3-2 comeback win before providing a superb assist for Marcus Rashford’s opener at Arsenal on Sunday.
Most recently, in international action, the Danish playmaker registered three assists in a 4-0 win over San Marino in Euro 2024 qualifying.
Eriksen took control of the match, taking 143 touches and completing 91 of 103 attempted passes, maintaining an 88 per cent accuracy.
The United No 14 created a staggering seven chances, completed seven crosses and found his man with six of eight attempted long balls.

He also put in a defensive shift, winning three of five ground duels and making three tackles to help continue Denmark’s push to progress from Group H.
Ten Hag would be wise to cash in on Eriksen’s positive period by keeping him in his team against Brighton.
And even if Amrabat is passed fit, the Red Devils boss may opt to ease him into English football rather than throwing him in the deep end in what is expected to be a tough task.
Eriksen is primed for a rotational role throughout his second season at Old Trafford, but his recent performances suggest that Ten Hag’s midfield depth isn’t as bad as it’s been made out to be.
