Man Utd have new transfer bane as Chelsea may ‘drop asking price’ for Mount
Andre Onana linked with Man Utd and Chelsea move
Bayern Munich are rapidly emerging as Manchester United’s new bane of the transfer window as Thomas Tuchel eyes a reunion with Mason Mount. And Chelsea could be willing to accommodate a move to Germany this summer after rejecting three United bids, according to reports.
The Blues have played hardball in the opening stages of the transfer window, despite Mount’s desire to depart either this summer or next on a free transfer.
United will have been confident their latest offer worth £55million would’ve been enough to lure the England midfielder from Stamford Bridge.
But Chelsea are holding out for £65m, which has reportedly seen the Red Devils leave their third bid on the table and focus on alternative targets.
Waiting in the wings are Bayern, who are intensifying their interest in Mount in an attempt to hijack United’s interest, according to The Guardian.
Tuchel is said to be a huge admirer of Mount after the pair won the Champions League together in 2021.
And the report claims Chelsea could be prepared to accept a lower fee for the 24-year-old from an overseas club.

It follows Bayern stealing a march on United for Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae, who was thought to be interested in bolstering Erik ten Hag’s back line before the Bundesliga champions’ arrival in talks.
Part of Chelsea’s hesitance will be based on strengthening a direct Premier League rival with a successful academy graduate.
But Bayern could offer Todd Boehly the opportunity to prevent losing Mount on a free transfer next year while, at the same time, lodging a dagger into the heart of Ten Hag.
It’s unclear whether Mount would rather hold out for an Old Trafford switch, but the prospect of guaranteed silverware at Bayern would likely appeal.
