Manchester United are making some serious statements in this summer transfer window as they look to end their local rivals recent dominance over the Premier League by making Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga their next purchase.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have won three of the last four league titles, the other going to United’s equally fierce foes Liverpool.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have not won a trophy of any kind since 2017 when Jose Mourinho guided United to the Europa League.
Their most recent Premier League title came in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last season at the club back in the 2012/13 campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s wait for silverware continues after he missed out on the same trophy this year, losing to Villarreal in the final after a remarkable penalty shootout where all 20 outfield players scored.
As a result, United appear to be taking the big-spending approach in a bid to bridge the gap between them and the likes of City and Liverpool.

Jadon Sancho has all but been secured after both Borussia Dortmund and United confirmed that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs.
There are still minor details to iron out before Sancho can officially be unveiled as a United player, but his £73m move is expected to go through without a hitch.
In turn, United’s attentions can now turn to their pursuit of Camavinga, whose contract expires next summer.
According to the Here We Go podcast, United could snap up one of the hottest properties in European football for a cut-price fee.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano explained: “At the moment, Manchester United are the frontrunners in the Camavinga race. It’s still open because PSG are looking at him, as are teams in Europe, as he’s out of contract in a year.

“From what I’m told, Rennes would be willing to negotiate for around €30-€35m for Camavinga.
“This is something important, because he’s out of contract in a year, but they want to make money and make profit, that’s why Manchester United are able to sign him this summer.
“They want him this summer, they think he’s a perfect long-term signing, ready-made to be part of the team of course.”
Romano explained how United may have the upper hand to the likes of other suitors such as Real Madrid and Barcelona, due to Camavinga’s desire to play in the Premier League.
“In the future, if they don’t sign an agreement this year they could try and sign him as a free agent next summer.
“But right now, United are progressing in contacts, they know Camavinga would love to join the Premier League, the situation is absolutely open but with Manchester United leading the race.”

Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane has also been touted with a move to Manchester all summer as the Old Trafford hierarchy try to seek out a long-term partner for Harry Maguire.
Varane is entering the final 12 months of his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu and is thought to be keen on setting himself a new challenge, with the Premier League his preferred destination.
