Man Utd hammered for comment on free agent David de Gea’s wedding photos
Manchester United have faced a tirade of abuse from supporters online for a tone-deaf comment on David de Gea's Instagram page.
The Spaniard, 32, saw his 12-year stint at Old Trafford come to a pitiful conclusion on Friday (June 30th) as the club withdrew an offer for a new contract at the 11th hour.
As United's highest earner, on an eye-watering £375k-a-week, De Gea had agreed to a heavy salary reduction that would extend his stay into the 2023/24 season, however, Erik ten Hag dramatically pulled the deal from the table just days before his contract was due to elapse.
Now officially a free agent, De Gea put his career to one side to marry long-standing partner Edurne Garcia with the gorgeous pair going official just after the goalkeeper's move to Manchester in 2011.

De Gea may no longer be registered on the books at Old Trafford but supporters were still quick to congratulate the couple for tying the knot on the Spanish Island of Menorca. Also making an appearance on De Gea's celebratory Instagram post was the official Man Utd account, which commented: "Felicidades, David,"- translating as "Congratulations, David."
The two-word remark has now been liked over 3,000 times by supporters but several fans took issue with the timing of the comment, which comes less than 24 hours after his release from the club.

"What a disgrace," slammed one supporter. "De Gea has served us amazingly well for over a decade, his wedding weekend and you pull this bulls***." Another fumed: ""This comment is embarrassing! He gets treated the way he has and then you post this. The Glazers and this moderating team is making the club i love a laughing stock!"
"Are you kidding? You let this man lose a job in a wedding day," blasted a third. "@manchesterunited f*** off you treated him like s***," slated a fourth.
United had been hopeful of pursuing a deal for Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana but the club are already toeing an FFP tightrope and the Nerazzurri's £60m demands have priced him out of a move.
Instead, the Man Utd hierarchy have drawn up a two-man shortlist to replace De Gea, which will become the priority once a deal for Chelsea's Mason Mount is finalised.
