Man Utd given cause for concern as Sofyan Amrabat’s agent speaks out on transfer

Ferguson hit the nail on the head explaining why Mourinho would fail at Man Utd

Sofyan Amrabat’s agent has simmered speculation claiming a Manchester United transfer is imminent, though a Fiorentina exit is expected this summer. Erik ten Hag reportedly wants a second midfielder in the coming weeks, but a striker is also on the agenda with the new season just 19 days away.

Italian reports claim it’s only a matter of time before Amrabat becomes Ten Hag’s fifth midfield signing as United manager after agreeing personal terms over a switch.

The 26-year-old’s absence from Fiorentina’s travelling party to face Red Star in a friendly in Belgrade today also raised eyebrows.

But Mahmoud El Boustati, Amrabat’s agent, has shut down talk that a transfer to Old Trafford worth around £25million is on the verge of going through.

Instead, he has made it clear that United aren’t the only club interested in signing the Morocco international this summer.

“Quite a few clubs are interested in Sofyan,” El Boustati told Voetbal Primeur.

“It is now a matter of making the right choice. He is still just a Fiorentina player, and he reported to Fiorentina on Monday.

“If something interesting comes up, Sofyan is open to the next step, and that goes for Fiorentina too. There are two, three clubs that he is open to.”

El Boustati added that he “assumed” his client would depart Fiorentina amid reported rival interest in Spain and Saudi Arabia.

But Ten Hag is said to be keen on signing a second midfielder after recruiting Mason Mount in a £60m deal from Chelsea.

Amrabat has reportedly rejected an approach from Liverpool in favour of a move to United, who made Andre Onana summer arrival No 2 earlier this month.

The Red Devils are seemingly prioritising their pursuit of Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, though, with a goalscorer among Ten Hag’s most pressing desires.

Fabrizio Romano claims an opening bid for the 20-year-old Dane is expected this week, which will move United closer to his signature.

Once he seals a switch to M16 and more players potentially leave Old Trafford – including Fred, Donny van de Beek, and Scott McTominay – the door will be open for Amrabat if he’s still on the market.
